Julia Olson - 2009 Female Player of the Year

Julia’s dedication and loyalty to North Shore Youth Soccer and the FC Alliance program began in kindergarten.  She has played within the program for her entire career and ended her career with FC Alliance as a state champion.  She also played high school soccer for Inglemoor and ended her career there on the varsity squad. 

Academically, Julia has maintained a GPA of 3.87 and has been a member of the National Honor Society throughout high school.  Both athletically and academically, Julia has applied herself to learning and leadership with focus and determination.  Julia’s academic accomplishments include:

•    Nominated and attended National Young Leaders State Conference – 9th Grade
•    Invited to attend and attended Congressional Youth Leadership Council  - 11th grade
•    Link Crew – school orientation leader 9th, 11th, 12th grades
•    National Honor Society – all grades

 

 

Lastly, we need to recognize Julia for her volunteer work. Julia has been able compete in sports and excel academically and still put in many hours working within her community and well beyond its boundaries to help others improve their lives.  Julia’s volunteer work includes:

•    Community Development work in Kenya with the Maasai – with World Concern – to implement a Maasai children’s camp/constructed a playground – 11th grade
•    International relations in Nicaragua – participated in land reform and village development with Agros – 10th and 11th grade
•    Key club – various local community service activities – all grades
•    Worked with homeless in Seattle and San Francisco – 9th and 10th grades
•    Built houses in Mexico – with Homes without Boundaries - 9th and 10th grades
•    Volunteered at Seattle food kitchens – all grades
•    Wapato Indian Reservation – help lead a children’s camp 9th and 10th grades
