Play Up Requests

The goal of providing players the option to tryout for a higher age level team is directed at players who wish to either play at their grade-appropriate level, or for players who qualify to play at a higher level of competition.

Parents and players should closely evaluate all aspects of playing-up, including giving consideration to ensure playing-up is a truly good fit for the player, both socially and emotionally.

Grade Appropriate Play-Ups
For players born after the August 1st age cut-off, but wishing to play-up with their grade level, they may do so without restriction. Per NYSA policy, players born on or after September 1st must supply a copy of their last Report Card to confirm their grade placement. (August birthdays are not required to supply a report card.)

Please Note: Grade Appropriate Play-Ups are highly encouraged to also attend at least one tryout at their true age-level to take advantage of exploring all playing options available to them. Again, this is not mandatory, but highly encouraged.

Other Play-Ups
All other players wishing to try out as a Play-Up are required to attend at least one tryout at their appropriate age level. Players need only pay one tryout fee and should register for their appropriate age and answer the play-up questions on the registration form. Print and sign two copies of your online registration form and take one to each tryout. (If not pre-registered online take the duplicate registration form you receive at your first tryout to your second tryout.) A second registration will be entered for your second set of tryouts. If a player is offered a spot as a Play-Up before their true age-level tryouts occur, they need not attend the second set of tryouts.

To earn a spot on a higher age-level team, players falling into this category must earn scores which designate them as an “Impact Player.” These types of play-ups will be handled on a case-by-case basis with careful consideration provided by the Coaching Staff, Coaching Director, and by the parents of the player.

FC Alliance strives to provide thorough evaluations for all players during the tryout process. Our utmost objective is ensuring the welfare of each individual FC Alliance player, determining the playing level at which he/she will feel the greatest enjoyment, development and success while playing the game of soccer at the Premier Level.
