Message from Michael Spong, VP of Fields
from the April board meeting
Call Michael Spong in case there are any problems with your fields (For example: no lights).  Do not call the emergency numbers posted at the fields!!  The school district and the City of Bothell have asked for just ONE point of contact from the FCA and that is Michael – so please call him first!  Team Coordinator ’s will have his number.

FCA is held to a higher standard than other clubs within the NYSA – so if a team poaches a field (using a field you are not officially scheduled for) NYSA can and will impose a 30 suspension to that coach and team from practicing.  This includes using fields BEFORE or AFTER your assigned practice time.

Reminder:  We CANNOT use Northcreek fields until August – DO NOT use these fields for any activity during this period of time.

If you are at Westhill, make sure that you do not park in the fire lane along the tree line next to the field!  I can’t stress this one enough.  Also, try to stay away from the fence next to the homes as much as possible.  Don’t kick against it, and if any ball is unfortunate enough to be kicked over the fence into a yard, please just leave it there.  The home owners are very sensitive to soccer, and we are to respect their privacy.

NO PETS ON ANY FIELDS!  Too many presents left behind in addition to children being bitten has turned this issue into a hot button. Does not seem to matter if dogs belong to other people – FCA is high profile and we always seem to get blamed so kindly ask the dog owners if they could respect the field usage rules while we are using the fields.

If there is an NSD event (track practice, soccer practice or game, etc.) occurring at the field that you have been scheduled on, please stand to the side with balls in the bag until the NSD event is completed.  This applies even if their event is continuing into your scheduled time.  Hopefully this won’t happen too often, but remember that they are allowing us to use these fields.  Do not touch or move ANY of the school’s equipment as well – this includes any mats, track & field equipment, etc.

Grass fields will get rained out – you can check the NSD Rain Out line 425-408-6020, or the NYSA and FCA websites for updates.  Ignorance of a closure is not an excuse if you are caught using a field that has been closed.  When it’s raining, please use your best judgment when using the field.  Goal boxes are the first to be torn up, so if your field is getting bad please restrict your use of the goal boxes.  If they get too bad, NSD will close them.  Also, please let Michael know if your field isn’t holding up from the weather.  We would like to be proactive to preserve the life of the fields and our ability to use them.

If your team decides to cancel a practice – please let Michael know ASAP.

Thank you for following our Field Use Guidelines.  Your attention to these rules will help protect our fields and make this a successful season.
